Following the tremendous success of Pride & Prejudice, A Christmas Carol and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, we are delighted to welcome the critically acclaimed theatre company This Is My Theatre back to Hempstead House for another captivating festive season.

This year, they bring not one, but two beloved Christmas classics to life, offering families the rare opportunity to enjoy professional theatre in the intimate surroundings of our beautiful country house hotel. With audiences just moments away from the action, it's a theatrical experience unlike any traditional theatre can offer.

The Nutcracker & The Mouse King

Step into a world of festive wonder as the magical tale of The Nutcracker & The Mouse King unfolds before your eyes.

On Christmas Eve, young Marie receives a very special gift from her mysterious godfather. As darkness falls, her treasured Nutcracker springs to life, defeating the wicked Mouse King before whisking her away on an extraordinary adventure through magical kingdoms, snow-covered landscapes and enchanting lands beyond imagination.

Join Marie and her Nutcracker Prince on a heart warming journey filled with wonder, excitement and festive charm that will captivate audiences both young and old.

Please note: This production is a play adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's original fairy tale and is NOT A BALLET.

Created especially for their Christmas tour, This Is My Theatre's vibrant, 1 Act, 75-minute adaptation has been designed to spark imaginations and delight the entire family. Featuring traditional carols and live music woven throughout the performance by Resident Composer Simon Stallard, audiences can expect a truly magical festive experience.

Recommended for children aged 5 and above.

A Festive Afternoon Tea to Begin the Celebration

Before the performance, adults can savour an exquisite festive afternoon tea, beautifully prepared by our pastry chefs, while younger guests enjoy their very own delicious festive tea designed especially for them.

We are delighted to accommodate dietary requirements, including gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options when advised in advance.

Guests will be seated on tables of ten and twelve in our function room, The Heritage Suite. Parties of 8 or more are guaranteed private tables. Smaller parties are of course welcome and will be placed on joiner tables.
