“Curiouser and curiouser!”

This Summer, we’re in for a “Golden Afternoon” when Lewis Carroll’s timeless children’s story comes to life at Hempstead House Hotel.

This Bank Holiday Monday 31st August 2026, we invite you, your family and your friends to an afternoon of outdoor theatre and classic children’s literature, hosted in the refreshing summer sunshine and beautiful gardens of Hempstead House Hotel.

Alice in Wonderland has consistently appeared near the top of lists of "most-loved children’s stories" and is now one of the best-known works of the Victorian era, inaugurating a time in which writing for children aimed to "delight or entertain". The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children.

“No story in English literature has intrigued me more than Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.” – Walt Disney 1946
