Les Arcs Ski Resort in France

Les Arcs Location

There is ski-ing for all abilities and ages with ski school and ski or board hire on the doorstep. With a huge variety of mountain restaurants to choose from and the vast network of lifts, a different route can be selected each day. Floodlit ski-ing is also available on 2 evenings each week. The picturesque tree-lined runs of Plan Peisey are in direct contrast to the open powder meadows found in 2000 and 1600 and the steep glaciers and gullies from the summits. An incredible 20-30 min long descent from the Aiguille Rouge (3226m) to the base at Villaroger (1200m) is a fantastic ski on a sunny morning.

Paradiski is now the largest ski area in Europe. Les Arcs and La Plagne are joined by a high speed cable car, The Vanoise Express, which carries 200 people and spans 4km in 4 minutes. There are over 420 kilometres of piste plus exhilerating off piste ranging from 1200m - 3400m. There are 2 glaciers, The Aiguille Rouge and The Bellecote Glacier in La Plagne, with guaranteed snow, even in the summer. Les Arcs comprises 4 self-contained villages linked at different heights. Arc 1800 is the largest village, with a lively atmosphere and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Arc 2000 is popular with experienced skiers, having direct access to the summit. Arc 1600 nestles below the other two and has a real village atmosphere. Arc 1950 is the newest village built in traditional style, offering doorstep ski-ing and a high class range of shops and restaurants. Snow boarding is an ever more popular activity in Les Arcs and the resort boasts 2 snow parks and half pipes where the more daring can test their skills

There are numerous activities to participate in during the summer, including mountain biking, white water rafting, hydrospeeding, golf, tennis, swimming, walking, archery, trampolining, glacier ski-ing, guided trekking, climbing and canoeing to mention but a few. The main lifts and mountain cafes are open from July-September giving access to all the resorts and each of the villages has a programme of events running for the summer season. The temperatures are high but cool in the evenings.
